Stomahesive paste is a hydrocolloid based paste used to smooth uneven skin surfaces around the stoma to protect skin and increase ostomy pouch wear time.

  • 2 ounce tube
  • Reference# 183910
  • Stomahesive Paste is an ostomy accessory used as a filler or caulk of grooves and crevices around the stoma to make a flat landing surface for the skin barrier to seat on the abdomen.
  • HCPCS Code: A4406
  • For external use only. Do not apply into an open wound or skin ulcer. Contains alcohol.

Stomahesive® Paste is used like a caulking tool to prevent leaking to fill in bumpy, uneven surfaces around the stoma to reduce gaps between the peristomal skin and the ostomy skin barrier.  Also, it's a great tool to use around flat, skin level stomas.

There are two ways to apply Stomahesive Paste

  • Apply directly to skin barrier (on the sticky side of the wafer)
  • Apply directly to skin
  • The line of paste should be similar thickness to toothpaste onto a toothbrush

ConvaTec's Stomahesive Paste is a pectin based ostomy paste used as a filler in uneven skin surfaces around the stoma to help increase ostomy system wear-time and protect skin.   Stomahesive paste is a ubiquitous ostomy accessory and there are other brands of ostomy paste that will are its equal. Stomahesive paste does contain alcohol so if it is applied to irritated, sensitive skin, it will likely sting.

Stomahesive Paste is designed to be used with ostomy skin barriers / wafers in the protection of the skin around the stoma. Stomahesive Paste is not a bonding cement, glue or adhesive. It is used as a filler or "caulking" agent to increase skin barrier wear time by providing a flat pouching surface and helping to prevent leakage under the skin barrier.

What is Stomahesive Paste Made Of?: 2-BUTENEDIOIC ACID, MONOBUTYL ESTER POLYMER W/METHOXYETHENE, TRIACETIN, CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE, GELATIN, PECTIN, GLYCERYL TRIS 12-HYDROXY STEARATE, ETHANOL, BUTANOL, N-BUTYL ALCOHOL, PROPYL CARBINOL, and BUTYL ALCOHOL.

This product works well, but tends to harden at the tip and has to be cleaned out before reuse

    Fills the gap

I've tried a few kinds of ostomy pastes and i have to say that they are pretty much the same in my opinion. It has alcohol so it stings a little on sensitive skin, but it works well filling uneven areas.
