839002 ConvaTec Eakin Cohesive Seals, Small, (20/bx)

Eakin Cohesive Seals 839002 by ConvaTec, can be molded into any shape so they can fill in uneven skin surfaces to prevent leakage around the stoma. Leaks around the seal of the skin barrier are a common problem faced by ostomates.

Details

  • 20 per box
  • Each Ring is 2" diameter
  • Store at room temperature
  • Keep dry & avoid high humidity
  • HCPCS A4385
  • SKU# 839002

Ileostomy output is loose/liquid and when there are dips and crevices around the stoma or from using a poorly fitted appliance leaks occur. This causes irritation to the surrounding skin, making it red and sore.  Small Eakin Cohesive® Seals are thicker than Eakin Slims (839005).

When should Small Eakin Cohesive® Seals be used?

  • Protection against pouch leakage
  • Provide absorbancy
  • Extend pouch weartime
  • Provide “soft” convexity for flush or retracted stomas (but not to substitute convex pouches)
  • Use with high output stomas/fistulae

Eakin Cohesive® Seals and Skin Barriers can be used for skin protection as:

  • An ostomy seal for ileostomies, colostomies, and urostomies

  • An external packing agent on uneven skin

  • A sealing agent around wounds, fistulas, and surgical drains

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use to cover broken skin or open wounds. Eakin Cohesive® Seals or Skin Barriers should not be used on individuals who are sensitive to or who have developed a sensitivity or allergic reaction to the product.

How To Use Eakin Cohesive Rings

  1. Make sure the surrounding skin is clean, dry, and free from any solvent or greasy substances.

  2. Prepare the Eakin Seal by warming it between your hands before removing the white release paper.
  3. Remove the release paper from both surfaces and gently mold, roll, stretch or compress the Eakin Cohesive® Seals or Skin Barrier to any shape to fit the requirements of the patient’s body. Eakin Cohesive® Seals or Skin Barrier may be cut and rejoined to fit around difficult sites.

  4. Gently apply to the skin with a little pressure and hold in place for about 30 seconds.

  5. Gently smooth the Eakin Cohesive® Seals or Skin Barrier towards the base of the stoma, or the edge of the wound, fistula or drainage site to ensure a secure seal.

  6. Place the ostomy pouching system directly onto the surface of the Eakin Cohesive® Seals or Skin Barrier and hold in place with gentle pressure until secure (approximately 30 seconds).

How To Remove Eakin Cohesive Rings From A Stoma

  1. Gently remove the ostomy pouch system by peeling from the body.
  2. Eakin Cohesive® Seals or Skin Barriers will not harm the skin when being removed from the body. Residue can be removed from the skin by rolling and peeling.
  3. An emulsifying agent or medical adhesive remover can be used topically to remove tackiness from the body.

    Wouldn't go without these seals

Even though these seals are on the expensive side, they are well worth it. They give you that extra sense of security against leaks. I would not go without them!

Extends my stoma pouch wear time

I found about this from my nurse while in the hospital. I like this size small 839002 but also like the various size options Eakin offers if anything changes for me.

    Eakin seals for life

Posted by Unknown on 13th Dec 2016

I've always used the small 839002 and sometimes switch to the slim or wrap kind. It's easy to use although a bit pricey no matter when purchased. Eakin stuff is kind to my skin and extends my wear time.
