Karaya Powder for Irritated Peristomal Skin

Ostomy powder is used to absorb moisture and protect open, weepy, or irritated skin around a stoma (peristomal skin) before applying a pouch or barrier. Our karaya-based K-Gum powder is a natural hydrocolloid alternative to synthetic stoma powders, and works well for ostomates who previously relied on Hollister's Karaya 5 pouches or Karaya seal rings, both of which were discontinued in 2023. K-Gum powder isn't a pouch replacement itself, but it delivers the same natural karaya skin-protection properties in a loose powder form that can be used with any ostomy pouching system, brand, or wafer.
