ParSORB absorbent gel packets are designed to absorb ileostomy pouch contents.  ParSORB granules are non-toxic and are packaged within a disssolvable (water soluble) film packet.  To use, just drop the intact packet into the ostomy pouch each time the ostomy pouch is emptied or cleansed.  As the pouch begins to fill, the packet dissolves and ParSORB super absorbent granules become a semi-solid gel that keeps pouch contents away from the stoma.  The gel also helps eliminate pouch noise and makes ostomy pouch contents easy to empty.  The result is an increase in confidence and convenience for the wearer of the ostomy pouch.

One-piece drainable appliances: Users simply drop the ParSORB packet into the pouch through the tail, then seal the tail.

Two-piece drainable appliances: Users simply drop the ParSORB packet into the ostomy pouch through the flange before attaching the pouch.

What is ParSORB and what does it do? ParSORB is an ostomy absorbent that turns liquid or loose pouch output into a semi-solid gel. Each packet contains non-toxic, super-absorbent granules sealed inside a dissolvable, water-soluble film.

How do I use ParSORB gel packets? Drop one intact packet into your ostomy pouch each time you empty or clean it. On one-piece drainable appliances, drop it in through the tail before sealing. On two-piece systems, drop it in through the flange before attaching the pouch. The film dissolves on contact with liquid, and the granules gel the contents within minutes.

How many packets do I need per pouch change? One packet is usually enough for typical ileostomy output. For higher-volume or very liquid output, some users add a second packet — start with one and adjust based on your own output.

Is ParSORB safe against the skin and stoma? Yes. The granules are non-toxic and are contained inside the pouch, not applied directly to skin or the stoma. The gel keeps liquid output away from the stoma opening, which helps reduce the risk of leakage-related skin irritation.

Will ParSORB stop odor? ParSORB's primary job is absorbing liquid into a gel, which reduces sloshing and pouch noise and can help minimize odor by containing output rather than leaving it loose in the pouch. For dedicated odor control, it's often paired with an ostomy deodorant.

Does ParSORB work for colostomy and urostomy too, or just ileostomy? It's most commonly used for ileostomy output, which tends to be loose or liquid and more frequent. It also works well for colostomy patients with looser output. It is not intended for urostomy pouches, which handle urine rather than stool.

How is this different from the ParSORB loose crystals (16 oz)? Same active ingredient, different format. The packets are pre-measured and dissolve on their own — no scooping required. The loose crystal jar is measured with a scoop and can be useful if you want to control the amount more precisely per use.

How long does one jar (100 packets) last? That depends on how many times a day you empty your pouch and how many packets you use per change. As a rough guide, someone emptying 4–6 times a day using one packet per change would use a jar in roughly 3–4 weeks.

Can I use ParSORB with any ostomy pouch brand? Yes. ParSORB is not brand-specific — it works with one-piece and two-piece drainable pouches from any manufacturer (Coloplast, ConvaTec, Hollister, Nu-Hope, Cymed, and others).
